Note: Fiber composition (e.g., adding lace-weight Mohair) and material flexibility can add texture without significantly changing the weight. Always knit a gauge swatch to verify.

      Why Hold Yarn Double?

      1. Create Unique Textures (Marling)

Holding two different colored strands together creates a beautiful "marled" effect. It's an easy way to add depth and visual interest to simple stockinette stitch.

      2. Adjust Yarn Weight

If you find a pattern you love that calls for Bulky yarn, but you only have DK in your stash, holding two strands of DK together allows you to knit that pattern without buying new yarn.

      3. Add Halo or Softness

A popular technique is holding a strand of Mohair or Suri Alpaca (Lace weight) together with a main yarn (like Fingering or DK). This adds a fuzzy "halo" and luxurious softness to the fabric.
